All about my sweet Luke ~
- Luke loves his Daddy. He constantly asks for him when he's at work and is giddy when he is home 'after his nap'.
- Luke and Lily are becoming pals. Luke loves to ask Lily questions, which he knows she always answers 'yes'. For example: Do you want some cake Lily? (He is asking her this after we told him we weren't having any cake.) Lily answers yes. Luke then tells us: Lily wants some cake. He is slowly learning this doesn't work the way he wants it to work.
- If Luke knew what 'achievement' meant, he would tell you his biggest one is finally being able to reach his cup up to the water dispenser on the refrigerator. Big stuff, people, big stuff.
- Luke is still enamored with trucks, cars, hitches, tractors, any kind of equipment, and trains. I never truly knew the value of road construction until Luke came along.
- Although Luke is still a picky eater, we might have turned a small corner. He is eating more and not whining about food that he doesn't like as much. He loves crescent rolls, raspberries, banana muffins, pizza, and tractor mac and cheese (Annie's farm macaroni and cheese).
- Luke is currently reading The Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis with Daddy and The House at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne with me. These are special times Kevin and I get individually with Luke.
- Papa Gary and Grandma Diane got Luke a balance bike for his second birthday and he glides that thing around the house daily. Despite learning how to not 'accidentally' bump into Lily, he does great not running into furniture.
- All things on the farm interest Luke. He loves going on adventures through the fields or by Grandma's bees, swinging on the swing set (he just started swinging in a 'big boy' swing), checking out the tractors in the shop, or helping Daddy with yard work.
- Luke moves slow in the morning and after his nap. He likes long cuddle time on the couch before he is ready to tackle the day.
- Luke can sing his ABCs and count to 10. He also likes to 'read' books and has gotten good at recognizing letters he has learned.
- Singing and dancing are some of Luke's favorite things to do. He loves to crank up a Mercy Me song and dance like it's nobody's business. Some of his favorite songs to sing are: Muffin Man, Happy Birthday, Old King Cole(it was in his Letter K book), and Old MacDonald.
- If Luke could have cake everyday, he probably would. He loves cake and cookies and we try and do 'something special' on Saturday nights to make the weekend a bit more fun.
- Luke enjoys going to Sunday School at church and into the 'big kids room' at MOPS. He has gotten so much better about us leaving and always loves to talk about what he did afterwards.
- Luke loves to bring Gaga Kathy her Mountain Dew when she stays with us over the weekend. It's a sweet way they bond while she's here.
- Luke's current prayer: Dear Jesus, Thank you for this day. Amen!
- Luke is in a big boy bed and doing great. He has only gotten out of it once during nap, but went right back to his bed after trying to escape from his room with no luck.
- Going on a mower ride or tractor ride with Daddy turns an ordinary day into extraordinary.
- Heading up to Papa Gary and Grandma Diane's house is always a win with Luke. He loves playing with them and all the special trucks and cars they keep around for him.
- Luke's laugh is infectious. I can't help but smile when this kid laughs. Lily can't help it either and joins in on the hysterics often.
These first 3 1/2 years were gone faster than I'd like to think about, but I am hiding so many special memories of this boy in my heart.
I will love you forever, I will like you for always, as long as I'm living my Luke you'll be.
