Luke's 1st Birthday Party

This past Saturday we celebrated our favorite little man's first birthday.  We were so excited to commemorate all the firsts we experienced throughout this past year and how richly blessed our lives have become now that Luke is part of our family.  Let's be honest, this party was more for us than Luke.  He won't remember any of it...not the cake, the presents, the decorations.  But, he will look at pictures someday and see how much he was loved at just a year old.

Since it's November, for the menu we decided on a soup and chili bar with a pumpkin cake and apple pies.  My mom was a HUGE help getting all this ready...thank you Mom!  I used the apple pie filling I canned this fall with some Pillsbury crust.  I made Luke's cake with some four inch pans I found on Amazon.  They are pretty cute and perfect to make a first birthday cake.  The cake stand I found was also from Amazon and is sweet, but not too frilly like most 8 inch cake stands.  Look for a post about the cake in the coming week or two.

With some help from some great friends and family, we also were able to have a hay rack ride and pumpkin painting for the kiddos.  Thanks Kara, Todd, Gary, and Diane!  It was a beautiful fall afternoon, absolutely perfect to spend some time outside (thank goodness!).

Thanks to everyone who made the trip to celebrate with us, especially those that travelled a long way!  Kevin, Luke I are blessed to have so many amazing people in our lives.  Luke loves you...and so do we!
